Nuestra octava vendimia fue genial. Hacía calorcito así es que empezamos una hora más tarde pero todo fue perfecto. Nos recibió el “Jefe” y vigneron de La Zarzuela, José Manuel Bustillo, Sherry Explorer Honorario y también su mano derecha, Arnaldo, también Sherry Explorer y Beatriz que hizo su juramento esa tarde. Después de la bienvenida y una introducción a la viña La Zarzuela, empezamos a vendimiar.

Our eighth grape harvest was great. It was so hot that we started an hour late but everything went perfectly. We were welcomed by the “Boss” and Winemaker of La Zarzuela, José Manuel Bustillo, Honorary Sherry Explorer and also by his right hand man, Arnaldo, who is also a Sherry Explorer, and by Beatriz who took her Sherry Explorer pledge that afternoon. We began our harvest after a warm welcome and an introduction to the vineyard La Zarzuela.

VENDIMIA. HARVESTING.

Todos muy concentrados cortando la uva y llenando poco a poco las espuertas. Una vez llenas, las llevamos a la zona donde se haría la pisa, la prensa y a la bota de los Sherry Explorers.

Everyone was very focused on cutting the grapes from the vines and gradually filling their baskets. Once filled, the grapes were taken to the area where they would be stomped, gathered, pressed, and taken to the Sherry Explorers’ own Sherry Barrel.

Después del duro trabajo, llego el momento de relajarnos con el magnífico vino que hace nuestro Busti y con las tapas que habíamos llevado. Como siempre pasa con los Sherry Explorers, eramos un grupo internacional total. Además de los españoles, había Sherry lovers de Bélgica, Reino Unido, Japón, Estados Unidos, Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay y Argentina. Las ganadoras de tapas eran de Colombia, Reino Unido y España. Los nuevos Sherry Explorers hicieron su juramento que fue muy emocionante en esa viña tan bonita. Por si fuera poco, disfrutamos de la música del ya, Sherry Explorer, saxofonista, José Valledor, que nos deleitó con preciosas canciones. Un año más, una maravillosa vendimia.

After all the hard work, it was time to relax with the magnificent wine made by the Boss Busti and the tapas that we had all brought. As always with the Sherry Explorers, we were a totally international group. In addition to the Spaniards, there were Sherry lovers from Belgium, UK, Japan, USA, Venezuela, Colombia, Paraguay, and Argentina. The tapas winners were from Colombia, UK, and Spain. The new Sherry Explorers took their pledge, in the beautiful vineyard which was the perfect setting. As if that were not enough, we enjoyed live music performed by saxophonist José Valledor, who is a new Sherry Explorer and who delighted us with his beautiful songs. A wonderful vintage one more year.
