– Discover Sherry is a business that arose out of a personal and passionate appreciation for all the beauty, history, and culture that is part of the Sherry wine industry.  Virginia Miller is a native Spaniard who has born in León, Spain, but has lived in Andalucía for most of her life.  She also lived in Germany as a child and recently she lived in the United States.  Throughout her life, she has acquired many “hats.”  She has been, and still is, a teacher, translator, United States Federal Court Interpreter, Sherry Wine Educator, entrepreneur, business owner, wine-enthusiast, and event-organizer.  Not a shy person, she was instrumental in organizing the Sister City Agreement between the City of Jerez de la Frontera and the City of El Paso, Texas.  She began promoting the appreciation of Sherry wines through tastings she organized when she was the President of the Club de España in El Paso, Texas.  Her passion for the Sherry Wine industry grew from her father´s experience as a key employee at the González Byass winery in Jerez.  Upon returning from the U.S., she immediately began her return to this passion and, eventually, was awarded the title of Sherry Wine Educator by the Consejo Regulador de Vinos y Brandies de Jerez.     Vicky and her husband, Alberto, now coordinate the efforts of Discover Sherry and often do so in either English or Spanish, or sometimes even in both languages.  This has led to interesting situations whereby Discover Sherry has been able to take advantage of this flexibility in languages to present wine tastings and pairings, bodega and vineyard tours, and custom wine-related tours entirely in English or entirely in Spanish.  In fact, sometimes, groups have had a need for a mixed-language presentation. 

Discover Sherry recently sponsored the first “Sherry Expo” where vendors of sherry-related products were asked to participate in an exposition of those products.  In a stagnant economy, this was the perfect opportunity to create network contacts and provide visitors with a glimpse of products that, for some, were previously unknown.  The fair met with resounding success and plans for this year are in the works.

A lo largo de su vida ha hecho muchas cosas diferentes, ha sido y todavía es, profesora, traductora, Interprete Jurada de las Cortes Federales en los EEUU, Formadora Homologada del Vino de Jerez, empresaria, entusiasta del mundo del vino, y organizadora de eventos.  Fue la promotora y organizadora en la firma del tratado de ciudades hermanas entre Jerez de la Frontera y la ciudad de El Paso, Texas.  Comenzó a promocionar los vinos de Jerez y sus brandies a través de diferentes eventos que organizaba durante los años que fue Presidenta del Club de España, Paso del Norte, en El Paso, Texas.  Su pasión por los vinos de Jerez le viene de su padre que trabajó muchos años en las Bodegas González Byass de Jerez y también era un apasionado del jerez.  Al regresar de los EE.UU. a España hace unos años,  comenzó la vuelta a su pasión, los vinos de Jerez y todo lo que les rodea. Consiguió su certificación de Formadora Homologada del vino de Jerez otorgado por El Consejo Regulador del Vino y Brandy de Jerez.  Vicky y su marido, Alberto, han coordinado sus esfuerzos para que Discover Sherry cumpla su objetivo de promocionar los vinos y los brandies de Jerez tanto en inglés como en castellano y a veces en ambas lenguas.
Recientemente Discover Sherry organizó la I Expo Sherry donde se expusieron productos relacionados con los vinos de Jerez.  En una economía difícil, era la oportunidad perfecta de crear una red de contactos y mostrar  a los visitantes productos que eran desconocidos para  muchos.  La I Expo Sherry fue un gran éxito.
