Dos Sherry Explorers invitadas al Reencuentro en Rota de los Blogueros Gastronómicos Gaditanos

El Grupo de amigos Blogueros Gastronómicos Gaditanos es un grupo que organizan diferentes actividades en la provincia de Cádiz relacionadas con la gastronomía tan diferente y tan exquisita de nuestra provincia.   Ya han realizado varios “Encuentros” en Rota organizados por Pilar Ruiz Rodríguez-Rubio y su madre Cristina, (que según Pilar es la mejor cocinera que conoce). Nos invitaron a Nieves y Vicky, Sherry Explorers, y nos hacía mucha ilusión ir ya que no habíamos participado nunca en un “Encuentro” (y Rota tiene mucho que descubrir). Nos encontramos a las 10:00 en la Rotonda del Ciclista. Éramos 16 en total. Iba a ser un día especial.

Two Sherry Explorers invited to the Gastronomy Bloggers Reunion in Rota

The group of friends known as the Gastronomy Bloggers of Cadiz is a group that organizes different activities in the province of Cadiz related to its gastronomy, which is so very different and so very exquisite.   They have already held several meetings in Rota. They have been organized by Pilar Ruiz Rodríguez and her mother Cristina (who according to Pilar is the best cook she knows). Nieves and Vicky, members of the Sherry Explorers, were invited. We were very excited to go since we had never participated in an “Encounter,” and Rota has a lot to discover. We met at 10:00 a.m. at the Cyclist Rotonda. There were 16 of us.  It was going to be a very special day.

1. HUERTA ALMA DEL TOMATE La primera visita fue a la huerta Alma de Tomate ubicada en el Centro Municipal de “La Mayetería” en el Camino de Santa Teresa. En esta Mayetería nos esperaba un buen amigo de Pilar y su madre Cristina, Paco Blasco que se encarga de esta huerta. Es una zona muy bien cuidada, muy bonita, puro campo. Paco nos fue explicando todos los detalles de la huerta, el tipo de cultivo biológico que lleva a cabo y las verduras y frutas que tiene plantadas. Había calabacines amarillos, fresas, sandías, las típicas calabazas roteñas, y sus famosos tomates que aún estaban verdes en nuestra visita. Había muchas variedades. Paco nos fue explicando todo que es interesantísimo.  Muchas gracias, Paco Blasco.

1. HUERTA SOUL OF THE TOMATO The first visit was to the “Soul of the Tomato” vegetable garden located at the Community center “La Mayetería” on Camino de Santa Teresa. Paco Blasco, a good friend of Pilar and her mother Cristina, who is in charge of this garden awaited us at this wonderful Mayetería. It is a very well-kept area, very beautiful, and was the definition of “organic.” Paco explained all the details regarding the garden, the type of organic farming that he does, and the vegetables and fruits that he has planted.   Some of them included yellow zucchini, strawberries, watermelon, the typical Roteño pumpkins, and the famous varieties of tomatoes, which were still green when we visited. There were many, many different varieties. Paco explained everything to us, which was really interesting.  Thank you, Paco Blasco.
