Camino de Los Ángeles para llevar a cabo la Cata de vinos de jerez en el V Congreso de Asociaciones Españoles en EE.UU. y Puerto Rico. Paramos en Phoenix donde viven los Nemeth, Nelson, su mujer, Petra (Sherry Explorer Honoraria) y Bridget, su hija. Hacía muchos años que mi marido, Alberto y yo, habíamos estudiado en Thunderbird y nos hizo ilusión volver. Nelson y Petra nos llevaron a visitar el Museo Heard que es muy interesante sobre todo si os gusta la historia y el arte de los pueblos indígenas estadounidense.

 On the way to Los Angeles to present a Sherry Wine Tasting at the Fifth Congress of Spanish Associations in the USA and Puerto Rico, we stopped in Phoenix where the Nemeth’s live, Nelson, his wife Petra (Honorary Sherry Explorer) and Bridget, their daughter. It had been many years since my husband, Alberto and I had studied in Phoenix at the Thunderbird Graduate Business School and we were excited to return. Nelson and Petra also took us to visit the Heard Museum which is very interesting especially if you enjoy the history and art of Native American Tribes.

La exposición incluye elementos de las historias que conforman las identidades nativas. Se incluyen los O’odham, cuyas tierras tradicionales comprenden la actual Phoenix (Arizona), donde se encuentra el Museo Heard; y los Diné (Nación Navajo), cuya tierra natal (denominada Dinétah) se extiende por lo que hoy son los estados de Arizona, Utah y Nuevo México. En el extremo noroeste, se incluyen los Yup’ik centrales de Alaska y otras culturas árticas, y mirando al noreste, los Haudenosaunee (Confederación de las Seis Naciones Iroquesas), con énfasis en los Séneca, que viven en lo que hoy es el Estado de Nueva York.

The exhibition includes elements that form Native identities. Included are the O’odham, whose traditional lands include modern-day Phoenix, Arizona, where the Heard Museum sits; and the Diné (Navajo Nation), whose homeland (referred to as Dinétah) extends across what is today the states of Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. To the far Northwest, included are the Central Yup’ik of Alaska and other Arctic cultures, and looking Northeast, the Haudenosaunee (Six Nations Iroquois Confederacy), with emphasis on the Seneca, who live in what is now New York State.
