Paula told us that she had really enjoyed writing this book, which she described as direct, simple, and very detailed since the information contained in it was derived from the book “Jerez-Xeres-Sherry” that was written by her great-grandfather Manuel María González Gordon and which is considered to be the bible of Sherry wine.

This book is for children from “4 to 104” years of age.  It can be enjoyed by persons of any age.  For the smaller children, it is a book that can be read aloud, while enjoying the beautiful illustrations.  For the older readers, it is a great introduction to the world of Sherry wine.  Only two or three generations ago, children would grow up surrounded by the culture of our local wines.  It was a rare instance that someone did not have a relative that worked at a winery or in some activity related to Sherry wine.  You could walk through the street enjoying the marvelous smell of Sherry wine and Brandies.  The towns in the Sherry region are a result of this industry, and, to this day, we can still see, unfortunately with less frequency, the structures of the wineries which are a part of our everyday life.  The focus of this book is designed to reach the more recent generations, so that they can feel what it is to be a part of that Sherry world which surrounds us.

I took my mother to the presentation of this fantastic book since Paula is a former student of the Miller English School which my mother founded in the decade of the 1970´s.  Paula signed our copy of her book with these beautiful words. (For Mrs. Miller, the best Director of the best School.  This book is, in a way, a fruit of those years.  A warm hug.  Paula)
