El III Jueves de D´Sherry Explorers de octubre fue genial. Más de 80 asistentes entre Sherry Explorers y amigos.
The D´Sherry Explorers´Third Thursday in October was a definite success. We had more than 80 attendees, counting Sherry Explorers and friends.
La batalla del Fino vs Manzanilla prometía por un lado porque es un tema clásico que viene de lejos y por otro, porque los contrincantes eran nada más y nada menos que Jorge Pascual y César Saldaña, profundos conocedores, profesionales y enamorados de nuestros vinos del Marco del Jerez.
The Fino vs. Manzanilla battle was promising because, on one hand, it is a classic issue that is often a topic of debate, and on the other, the opponents were none other than Jorge Pascual and César Saldaña, who are well-versed, professional, and dedicated aficionados of Sherry wines.
Antes de comenzar el combate, se hizo una introducción de D´Sherry Explorers y los nuevos candidatos juraron su cargo. ¡¡Ya somos 111 exploradores incansables del vino de Jerez, Manzanilla, Brandy, Vinagre y hasta de Vinos de la Tierra de Cádiz !!!
Before we began the battle, there was an introduction to the concept of the D´Sherry Explorers and, then, the swearing-in of new members. We are now 111 tireless explorers of Sherry and Manzanilla wines, Brandy, Sherry Vinegar, and even the local wines of the Province of Cadiz!!

Fue un debate interesantísimo, educativo y divertido. Todos aprendimos mucho y nos divertimos más con las cosas de Jorge que defendió el fino y César que defendió la manzanilla. Las conclusiones que sacamos merecen un artículo aparte en nuestro blog. Pero, ¿y quién ganó? Os dejamos el enlace el youtube para que veáis el resultado.
And the battle began!
It was a debate that was fascinating, informative, and entertaining. We all learned a lot and we enjoyed ourselves by watching Jorge defend Sherry wine and César defend Manzanilla wine. The conclusions that were reached deserve the preparation of an entire article on our blog. But, who won? We have attached a youtube link so that you can see the result.
Entre los asistentes había exploradores y amigos de Jerez, Sanlúcar, Alemania, EE.UU., Chiclana, Cádiz y El Puerto
Among the attendees were friends from Germany, USA, Jerez, Sanlúcar, Chiclana, Cadiz, and El Puerto.
Nos acompañaron también Mª Antonia Martínez Varela, Concejal de Patrimonio de El Puerto y José María Morillo, Director de Turismo también de El Puerto con sus acompañantes.
We were also honored with the presence of Maria Antonia Martínez Varela, the El Puerto City representative of Historical Asset Preservation, and José Maria Morillo, the El Puerto City Director of Tourism, and their companions.
No podían faltar la degustación de fino y manzanilla con tapas elaboradas por por D´Sherry Explorers. Hubo, como es habitual, un jurado secreto que eligió dos de las tapas que más gustaron. Nunca es fácil porque siempre hay muchas tapas deliciosas.
Of course, after the battle, we all had to try some Fino Sherry and Manzanilla with the tapas provided by the D´Sherry Explorers. As usual, there was a secret jury that selected the best tapas. That is never an easy task since there is always a good variety of delicious tapas.
En este caso las tapas seleccionadas fueron de dos Carmenes, las albondigas de chocos de Mª Carmen y la ensaladilla de piña de Carmen.
On this occasion, the winning tapas were the calamari meatballs prepared by Mari Carmen and the pineapple potato salad prepared by yet another Carmen.
