Wine aficionados in the province of Cadiz had the opportunity to try wines from the rich and diverse world of Spanish oenology.  “A wide variety of wines, ranging from those produced by large bodegas to those resulting from small projects – with special attention given to every detail of their product,” said Martín Hidalgo in an interview with the Diario de Jerez newspaper.

The participation of Sherry wineries such as González Byass, Delgado Zuleta, and, of course, Bodegas Hidalgo, were an absolute must.

We had the opportunity to taste some new wines which we had never encountered, and others which we know well and enjoy very much.  There were Riojas, Albariños, Cavas… and wines from the Province of  Cádiz,  from Ribera del Duero, from Jumilla, from El Bierzo….

I was very pleased to taste the Jumilla wines produced by  Juan Gil.  I studied with his sister, Cali Gil, at the Castillo de Magalia, in Avila, a “few” years ago.  He gave gave us a bottle of his wine that commemorated our “crossing of the Equator” (half way of our career).  I keep it in a very special place.
