Discover Sherry recommends: Con Rutasiete por las viñas / Throughout the vineyards with Rutasiete

Collage Info

It had been a while that we were wanting to take a spin in a 4×4 with Rutasiete, and we finally did.  Salvador picked up six members of the Discover Sherry team and we hit the road.

Collage Cartuja

The first stop was at the old Cartuja monastery in Jerez.  It just so happened that they were celebrating mass and we were allowed to enter and see the church.  It was the first time in my life that I had ever been in there.   The choir was incredible, so we stayed a while just to listen.   We enjoyed our visit, it is truly a treasure.

Collage varios

From there we went cross-country or, better said, we went “cross-vineyard.”  We traveled through three of the most well-known vine-growing regions in the area:   Añina, Carrascal, and Macharnudo.  We saw vineyards upon vineyards like we had never seen before.   They were beautiful and ready for the harvest, which is now in full swing. We stopped to take some photos and at our last stop we were able to enjoy some Lustau Península Palo Cortado, a Maestro Sierra medium cream sherry, a few tapas, and a great sunset.  The site and the view couldn´t have been any better.

We had a great time.  We saw many things and learned a lot of new things about our nearby vineyards.   I truly recommend the experience.  In addition to this vineyard route, Rutasiete has other interesting excursions  such as the Guadalquivir Marshlands route, the Andalusian White Villages route, the route of the Bull, and coming up soon – the Route of the “Deer´s Mating Call.”  Thank you, Salvador, for providing us with such a memorable afternoon.
