It was going to be a very special meeting.  Our guest speaker, Mónica Zhou, who is from Shanghai, was going to conduct a comparative wine tasting with Chinese rice wines and Sherry wines.  In addition, we were going to celebrate Chinese New Year. The dining salon at our base camp was ready to go.  Sofia Nieto, our Discover Sherry team artist, had decorated each table with a different Chinese theme and they were all amazing.

Our mascot, EDU, was also ready for the occasion and the gifts awaiting the door prizes drawing.  It is customary, during the celebration of Chinese New Year, to provide a gift consisting of a red envelope that contains a lit bit of money along with some good wishes for the upcoming year.  So, we prepared some envelopes containing a One Yuan Note and a wish like the ones pictured below.some-wishes

The rice wines, a dry Huang Jiu seco and a sweet one, were brought by Mónica and her husband, Russell, all the way from Shanghai.  The wines had been bottled just a few days before  Monica and Russell´s departure to Spain.  We were going to compare them with a Dios Baco Amontillado and César Florido Cream, which was a complete luxury.  We were also able to purchase a rice liqueur at the Polígono Amarillo in Sevilla and we served it in some small glasses made of chocolate.

The team had the dessert trays ready to go.  They had  lichis, mochis, and  mini sherry cake.  The tapa trays were waiting to be filled with the Chinese tapas which were being prepared.

All that was left was the arrival of our guests.  In a few days, we will share the video that captured this unique and wonderful event.
