Recently, we enjoyed a holiday celebration at the Universo Santi restaurant, which is very special.  Its goal is to improve the quality of life and living conditions of persons with disabilities, following the culinary legacy championed by the great chef Santi Santamaría.    It is located at the Finca El Altillo, which is a historical and emblematic place in the city of Jerez de la Frontera.     It will open its doors to the public this coming January.   Attached is a video which contains photos taken at this beautiful event.  Presently, group reservations can be made for the set-menu which is shown below.   You can find further information at http://universosanti.com/

The setting is beautiful.   When you are there, it almost seems as if you are transported to another era.  At the end of the 19th century,  Don Manuel María González, the founder of the Gonzalez Byass winery bought the El Altillo estate, which is surrounded by orange orchards and vineyards.  It was utilized as a holiday home by the owner´s family.  It was a magical universe, in which  there lived 7 young girls who were all members of that same family.   We highly recommend  Begoña García González-Gordon´s book, “Las niñas del Altillo” (The girls of El Altillo) that provides the history of this incredible place in beautiful detail.
