Seminario y Cata sobre el Brandy de Jerez/ Brandy de Jerez Seminar and Tasting


La Universidad de Cádiz organizó un Seminario y Cata de Brandy através de su programa ENOUCA, Programa de Divulgación del Vino.  Tuvo lugar en el Consejo Regulador de Jerez y el curso fue impartido por el Director de dicho Consejo, César Saldaña.  Fue muy interesante y aprendimos cómo se elabora esta bebida espirituosa obtenida a partir de aguardientes destilados de vino y envejecida en botas de roble envinadas la mayoría de las veces en jerez oloroso o Pedro Ximénez.

The University of Cadiz sponsored a Brandy de Jerez Seminar and Tasting as part of their ENOUCA Program, which is based on the education of the general public about wine.  It was held at the Sherry Wine Regulatory Council headquarters, and was presented by the Council´s director, César Saldaña.  It was very interesting.  We learned how this alcohol spirit is obtained from a wine distillate which is subsequently aged in oak casks.  These casks have previously  contained aged Sherry Wines, usually Oloroso Sherry or Pedro Ximénez Sherry.
