Erase una vez…. hace algunos (bastantes) años, Barbara Peterson (Williams) trabajó de profesora de inglés en el cole de mi madre el Colegio Inglés Miller en Jerez.  Era una profe estupenda y los alumnos además de aprender un montón, se lo pasaban en grande con ella ya que tiene un carácter muy divertido. Nos hicimos muy amigas.  Luego coincidimos en una audiencia cuando yo vivía en El Paso, Texas, ella de abogada y yo de interprete.  Seguimos en contacto y por fin después de 30 años volvió a estas tierras.  Venía con muchas ganas de jamón, de sherry wine y de visitar muchos sitios que recordaba de aquella época.

Once upon a time… some (okay, many) years ago, Barbara Peterson (Williams) worked as an English teacher at my mother´s school –  the Colegio Inglés Miller in Jerez.  She was a wonderful teacher and her students not only learned a lot from her, but they also had a great time since Barb has a very “entertaining” character. We became good friends.  Years later we met up again when I lived in El Paso, Texas.  She was working as a court advocate and I was working as a court interpreter.  We stayed in contact and finally, after thirty years, she returned to this part of the world.  She arrived wanting to re-discover Spanish jamón and sherry wine.  She also wanted to visit the many places that she recalled from the time when she was living here.Uno de los momentos más bonitos fue cuando volvimos a ver a uno de nuestros alumnos, Dr. Alvaro Pemartín y sus mellizos.  Muuuuchos y estupendos recuerdos. Pasamos un rato genial.

One of the most memorable, and moving, moments of her stay was when we had lunch with one of our former students,  Dr. Alvaro Pemartín, and his twins.  We shared many, many, wonderful memories, and we all had a great time.Le encantaron los Sherry Explorers y las Sherry Girls hicimos una pequeña ceremonia donde hizo su juramento y ahora es la representante de los Sherry Explorers en Dallas, Texas, donde vive.  Tendremos que ir a contarles todo sobre nuestros vinos y brandy de jerez. ¡Nos vemos pronto!

She loved the concept of the Sherry Explorers, so the Sherry Girls organized a small ceremony and we swore her in.  We now have a Sherry Explorer representative in Dallas, Texas, where she lives.  We´ll just have to make another trip to Texas in order to tell the citizens of Dallas about our Sherry wines and Brandy.  See you soon!
