The La Carbona Restaurant in Jerez, celebrated its Silver (25th) Anniversary in the beautiful setting which formerly was a winery, and where, now, Javier Muñoz, Jr.,  creates his magnificent dishes.  His style of cuisine is one in which Sherry wines play a significant role .  That is why he is known as the  ” Sherry Chef”.Asistimos a dos de las actividades que organizaron para celebrar este acontecimiento. Disfrutamos a tope.

We attended two of the activities that were organized as part of the month-long celebration.  One was a  musical and very emotive  presentation that was held at the Villamarta Theater.  Beforehand, we did not know what to expect, but the printed program was cleverly presented to us that night in the form of a “restaurant menu.”  The evening was truly spectacular.  It was a very original series of excellent performances by opera, flamenco singing and dancing accompanied by harp music, a chorus, speeches…. It was moving, fun, interesting, captivating…and incredible.  A very enjoyable evening was had by all.

Upon our arrival, we were given a small bag containing a Sherry glass and a small bottle of some magnificent Oloroso Sherry.  At the end of the presentation, almost a thousand persons in attendance that night, were able to simultaneously join in making a toast to the La Carboná restaurant´s 25th anniversary.

The dinner which we attended at La Carboná was prepared by Chef Victor Martín.   He traveled from the Trigo Restaurant Valladolid which has been awarded a Michelin star.  The courses served were prepared with traditional products from the Spanish province of Castilla-León.  They were harmonized with wines from the Ribera del Duero D.O. (Quintana del Pidio winery).  A wonderful experience.

We have enjoyed the Sherry Chef´s culinary delights on several occasions.  Some of the most memorable visits were in company of Sherry Explorers from New York,  Phoenix, San Sebastian,California and Texas.  I also recall a very special occasion when a group of Sherry Explorers from the AWC (American Women´s Club) of Sevilla were sworn-in as Sherry Explorers at La Carboná.¡¡Os deseamos muchos más años de éxito!!

We wish the Sherry Chef and La Carboná many more years of succcess!!
