Cada dos años se celebra en Jerez la  Copa Jerez Forum and Competition el mayor encuentro internacional en torno a los Vinos de Jerez, en la que participan restaurantes de siete países, con un congreso de investigación y conocimiento en torno a estos vinos liderado por grandes nombres de la gastronomía mundial.

Copa Jerez Forum & Competition se celebró en el Teatro Villamarta los días 28 y 29 de mayo. Every two years, Copa Jerez Forum and Competition is held in the City of Jerez. It is the most important international event, as it relates to Sherry wines, at which restaurants from seven different countries participate. The competition is accompanied by a forum of speakers focused on research and recent developments regarding these wines, and which includes presentations by some of the most prominent figures in the international culinary world.

The 8th Copa Jerez Forum & Competition was held at the Villamarta Theater, in the City of  Jerez, on the 28th and 29th of  May.  More than 250 oenologists, chefs, and Sherry wine-lovers from all over the world (many of them Sherry Explorers) had the opportunity to learn more about the unique qualities of these wines, based on a wine culture which has persisted after centuries of history and tradition, especially as it relates to fine cuisine. This fascinating information was shared by some of the most well-known names in the international wine and culinary world.Todas las ponencias fueron muy interesantes y con ponentes de primera categoría.  Por primera vez se hacía en el Teatro Villamarta y ha sido una magnífica elección.  Cómodo.  Visión, sonido e interpretación, estupendos.  Organización, perfecta.

All of the presentations were top-notch and were very interesting.  It was the first time this event was held at the Villamarta Theater, which is an excellent venue.   It was comfortable, and the audio/sound equipment, along with the organization of the event, were all perfect.

La Final tuvo lugar entre siete equipos internacionales, formados por un chef y un sumiller que elaboraron en directo y de forma simultánea los diferentes menús maridados con Vinos de Jerez. 

The final phase of the competition included the participation of seven international teams, comprised of a chef and a sommelier, who created and coordinated, live on-stage, the various dishes that were paired with Sherry wines. El ganador de esta VIII edición ha sido el equipo formado por el sumiller Jonathan K. Berntsen y el chef Martin g. Sørensen del Restaurante Clou* de Copenhague, Dinamarca. ¡Enhorabuena!

The winners of this year´s competition was the team comprised of Jonathan K. Berntsen, Sommelier and Martin G. The Closing Dinner of this year´s Eighth Copa Jerez  was held at the González-Byass winery with a menu consisting of exquisite culinary offerings paired, of course, with some fantastic Sherry wines.    Below is a video with a photographic review of these intense and incredible days.  We hope that you enjoy it.
