PRESENTATION: Dr. José Rodríguez Carrión shared with us some new discoveries relating to the biography of the New World explorer, and native of Jerez,  Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca.  Dr. Rodríguez´ presentation was made at the Club Las Redes, in El Puerto de Santa Maria, as part of the monthly meeting of the Sherry Explorers.  It was a fascinating presentation which captivated his entire audience.HOMENAJE:  Dª Petra Rodríguez-Conde fue nombrada Sherry Explorer Honoraria.

HONORS:  Ms. Petra Rodríguez-Conde was named  Honorary Sherry Explorer.  In the United States, Petra makes continuous and tireless efforts to promote everything related to the Spanish culture, including the promotion of Sherry wines.  For her efforts, she has been awarded the Encomienda de Isabel la Católica Medal, bestowed upon her by His Majesty Felipe VI, the King of Spain.  Petra and her husband, Nelson, who during  the majority of their time live in Scottsdale, Arizona, were some of the first persons who took the oath as Sherry Explorers in the year 2014.  It is truly an honor for us to include Petra as one of the Honorary Sherry Explorers.CELEBRACIÓN: Después de la presentación y del nombramiento llegó la hora de la celebración.

CELEBRATION: After the presentation and the honors ceremony it was time for the celebration.  As always, we had a great time amongst the Sherry Explorers and our friends.  One of the Sherry Explorers we had the honor of hosting was Antonio Morales, who is the President of the National Benevolent Society of New York.  He was sworn-in at a Sherry wine-tasting which we held in New York in 2016.

We enjoyed a variety of delicious tapas that were prepared by  Primitivo Catering and which were paired with Sherry wines from the Lustau Winery.  It was yet another magnificent Sherry Explorers meeting:  We learned about Sherry wines, along with enjoying and making several toasts with them.
