Having Lunch with the Founder of the Sherry Explorers
This week we share the details of the lunch that we shared with Vicky Miller at “Pantalán G”, a notable restaurant in Puerto Sherry
1322 Sherry Explorers (spread throughout the world, more than 200 of them in Japan) are witnesses to the excellent educational efforts that Vicky Miller has achieved, throughout a period of various years. Vicky’s roots stem from the Spanish provinces of Asturias and Leon, but she has lived in the province of Cadiz since an early age. Although she is a teacher by profession, this citizen of the world has spent many years living in the United States. There, she began her quest to promote an appreciation for the wines that her father, Eduardo Miller, instilled in her. He was the International Sales Manager at the González Byass winery for many years.
We have joined her to have lunch at one of her favorite restaurants: “Pantalán G ” which has been the restaurant of note in Puerto Sherry for more than five years. The restaurant’s chef, Paloma Arjona, has served us a special menu with ingredients from here and there, with her special touch and professional presentation.
Vicky and I shared: “a butterfish ceviche, tuna tataki on a bed of avocado, boletus and truffle croquettes with bacon and goat cheese; pil pil codfish with piquillo peppers, roast boneless suckling lamb with parmentier sauce and cheesecake with berries.”
While enjoying our lunch we have talked about her passion for Sherry wines and the courage that she inherited from her mother, María Luisa Fernández, the unforgettable Mrs. Miller, Director of the Miller School, at which many children from the City of Jerez were educated, including myself.
