Momoko Izumi, Honorary Sherry Explorer and a wonderful ambassador of Sherry wines, celebrated International Sherry Week in Japan. Momoko, as a representative of her company “Sherry Club,” and in partnership with Matsunoyama Onsen, organized an on-line toast with Sherry wine. The toast was made in the presence of what she called the “Dark Symbol” (or the “Osborne Bull” as we know it). It was created to celebrate the 150th year of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries of Spain and Japan.

Some Sherry Explorers joined-in on this toast in spite of the fact that it was 10 a.m. in Spain. In the end, a sherry wine is always welcome and so we enjoyed toasting with our great friend Momoko, via an on-line connection.

Iván LLanza, Director of the Fundación Osborne, represented the Osborne winery in this event. He made a toast, skillfully served the sherry out of a barrel using a venencia, and gave us a tour of the Osborne winery. Tomoko Kimura, Sherry Explorer and another wonderful ambassador of Sherry wines, assisted us all by interpreting what was said, from the Japanese language into the Spanish language, and vice-versa.

¡¡Enhorabuena Momoko!!
Unfortunately, we were unable to attend the second half of the celebration – which included a dinner accompanied by Jazz music, Sherry wines, and very special Japanese culinary delights. Although, we were told that the celebration was a complete success! Congratulations Momoko!!
