Upon our arrival at the El Faro Restaurant, we had a taste of some classic Basque apple cider and enjoyed it along with some delicious appetizers: Basatxerri ham, and Gildas (anchovy, olive and pepper skewers). We also had some very tasty Idiazabal cheese which was beautifully cut like Spring flowers. As always, it is a joy to greet all of the Sherry Explorers, and friends, that were present at the event.

Fernando Córdoba, Chef of the El Faro Restaurant, and Honorary Sherry Explorer, welcomed everyone. We were also greeted by Basque Chefs: Iñaki Larrainzar, (who is the soul and creator of this event as well as an Honorary Sherry Explorer), and the well-known Xabi Zabaleta of the Arantz Restaurant in San Sebastián.. Representatives of the El Puerto de Santa María City Council and the Provincial Council were also present and introduced themselves to all of the guests.

Everything we ate was delicious! It would be very difficult to choose one of the dishes as being the best.

The grilled Txuletas………………were indescribably great!!! A Txuleta is an over-sized T-bone steak. The meat melts in your mouth since it is prepared to be very tender. Even one of our”vegetarian” friends enjoyed them! The desserts, the wines, ….. In short, it was a perfect meal.

Muchos amigos, muchos nuevos amigos y un rato maravilloso.
Many old friends, many new friends, and a wonderful time – we couldn’t ask for more.
Thank you so much to all of the organizers for this wonderful experience. And, of course, thanks to the staff of the El Faro Restaurant who, as always, do an incredible job.
¡No te las pierdas! Don´t miss it!
