Como hemos comentado muchas veces, los vinos del Marco de Jerez van con ….TODO. Así fue, arrancamos la International Sherry Week con esta cata super divertida en nuestro campamento base, el Hotel Pinomar. Disfrutamos de magníficos vinos del Grupo Caballero con tapas TexMex muy ricas.

As we have said many times, the wines of the Marco de
Jerez pair well with ….EVERYTHING.  And, so it is. We kicked off the International Sherry Week with a super-fun Sherry wine-tasting at our base camp, the Hotel Pinomar. We enjoyed magnificent wines, from the Caballero Wine Group, along with delicious Tex-Mex tapas.

Aprendimos el significado de la comida Tex Mex y de las influencias tan diferentes que tiene como nativos, mexicanos, canarios, bereberes, españoles, etc… Nuestro invitado, Luis Luengo, también con toque TexMex como todos los asistentes, nos habló de la historia de este grupo vinatero y sus vinos que se elaboran en Sanlúcar, El Puerto y Jerez y tuvimos la suerte de probar vinos de los tres sitios. Muy pronto publicaremos sus diapositivas.

We learned the historical meaning of “Tex -Mex food” and the many different cultural influences it has had, including those from the Spaniards, Native-Americans, Mexican natives, Canary Islanders, Berbers, etc….  In addition, our special guest, Luis Luengo, (dressed with a Cowboy touch along with many of the attendees), educated us about the history of this wine group and their wines that are made in El Puerto, Sanlúcar, and Jerez.  We were lucky enough to taste wines from all three places. We will publish the slides of his presentation very soon.

Hay doce nuevos Sherry Explorers, ¡BIENVENIDOS! Ya os ha cambiado la vida. José Manuel Bustillo, nuestro viñista de la Viña La Zarzuela entregó los premios del Concurso de fotografías de nuestra vendimia de este año.  En nuestra próxima actividad entregaremos los premios del concurso de fotos de La Galería del Jerez.  No pudo faltar el sorteo con muchos regalos mexicanos y tejanos.  Aquí os dejamos un bonito resumen de esa estupenda tarde en la que en vez de aplaudir gritábamos como un cowboy: YEE HAW!

There are twelve new Sherry Explorers, WELCOME TO Y’ALL!!!  As your oath promised, we are sure that your life has already changed!   José Manuel Bustillo, our winemaker from Viña La Zarzuela, presented the prizes for this year’s grape harvest photo contest.  At our next activity we will present the prizes for the photo contest of our visit to La Galería del Jerez.  As usual, there were door prizes with many Mexican and Texan gifts.  Attached, is a nice photo-summary of that great afternoon in which, instead of applauding, we shouted like a bunch of cowboys and cowgirls: YEE-HAW!
