El 16 de septiembre D´Sherry Explorers nos reunimos para nuestra actividad del III Jueves.  Fue en nuestro campamento base, el Hotel Pinomar y unas 80 personas acudieron a disfrutar de esta actividad.

On the 16th of September, the D´Sherry Explorers met for our Third Thursday activity.  It was at our Base Camp, the Hotel Pinomar, and about 80 persons attended to participate in this activity.

La Pesca de AtúnComenzamos con el juramento de 25 nuevos Sherry Explorers que con su salacot o con sombrero a lo Indiana Jones, el catavino con fino Valeroso de Bodegas Grant, en este caso, y una venencia en la otra mano, prometieron amar el jerez, promocionarlo y celebrar todos los momentos importantes de nuestra vida con este vino único.

We began with the swearing-in of 25 new Sherry Explorers.   Wearing their Pith helmet or Indiana Jones hat, and with a glass of sherry Valerosos from Bodegas Grant  in one hand and a venencia in the other, they all promised to love Sherry wine, to promote it, and to celebrate all of the important moments in their lives with this unique wine.

¡¡¡Y así pasamos de 100 Sherry Explorers!!!

At that point, we then became over 100 Sherry Explorers strong!!!

PresentationEduardo Santander hizo la presentación de Nani Delgado Poullet que  nos habló de la pesca del atún en la costa de Cádiz y proyectó dos documentales, uno de los años 30 y otro de los 50, interesantísimos.  Nani es un verdadero entendido en todo lo que es la historia de toda esta zona y es un placer escucharle.

Eduardo Santander introduced Nani Delgado Poullet, our guest speaker, who spoke to us about tuna fishing on the Cadiz coast.  Part of his presentation included two very interesting documenatary films, one made in the ´30´s and the other in the 50´s.  Nani is a true scholar regarding the entire history of this area and it is a real pleasure to listen to him speak.

Después de la presentación, Edmundo Grant y Javier Höhr, de las Bodega Grant, nos hablaron de la Bodega Grant y nos describieron los vinos que íbamos a degustar.

After the presentation, Edmundo Grant and Javier Höhr (both from the Grant winery), talked to us about the Grant winery and described the wines that we were going to try.

Vinos excelentes que armonizaron de maravilla con las tapas.

Excellent wines that paired perfectly with the tapas.

Diapositiva39Nuestro amigo Fernando Córdoba, Chef del Restaurante El Faro en El Puerto, y que junto a Ana, también habían hecho su juramento de Sherry Explorers,  colaboró con tapas muy ricas.  Los Sherry Explorers también colaboraron con sus platos y todo debía estar riquísimo porque no quedo nada!!  En esta ocasión no pudimos nombrar un jurado secreto que eligiese las dos mejores tapas como hacemos siempre porque no dio tiempo a probarlas!!!

Our friend, Fernando Córdoba, Chef of the El Faro Restaurant in El Puerto provided us with some delicious tapas for this event.  Both he and Ana, were also sworn-in as Sherry Explorers.  Other Sherry Explorers also provided us with their tapas.  There is no doubt that they were all delicious since they all quickly disappeared.  In fact, this time we were unable to name our “secret tapa jury” to pick the best tapas (as we normally do) since there wasn´t enough time to taste them all.
