Llevábamos queriendo ir desde que abrieron y por fin algunos amigos de equipo Discover Sherry fuimos a conocer el Sherry Bar BESPOKE en la Avenida Bajamar de El Puerto de Santa María.  Muy cerca de la Bodega Gutiérrez Colosía

We had been wanting to go since they opened.  Finally, the Discover Sherry team went out to discover the Sherry Bar BESPOKE on the Avenida Bajamar in El Puerto de Santa María.  It is located very close to the Gutiérrez Colosía winery.

Es un sitio diferente, original, acogedor, es como un taller de artista con aroma a jerez. Cada mesa, cada lámpara, la barra, todo nos cuenta algo de nuestros vinos, nos cuenta algo de la Bodega Gutiérrez Colosía.  BESPOKE es una palabra inglesa que significa algo así como “a medida”  y es la impresión que da al mirar cada rincón de este sherry bar, cada cosa está hecha especialmente para ese lugar en particular.

It is a different place, very original and cozy.  It is like an artist´s studio with a dominant aroma of sherry. Each table, each lamp, the bar – they all tell us something about our wines and they tell us about the Gutiérrez Colosía winery.  BESPOKE is a British word which means something to the effect of being “custom-made.”  That is the impression one gets when you look into every corner of this sherry bar; everything is specially made for this particular place.

Cada mesa es diferente, todas preciosas, pintadas a mano con motivos locales o con detalles del mar que llega hasta su puerta.

Each table is unique.  They are all beautifully hand-painted with local scenes, or scenes of the sea which is within view right outside the door.

Mires donde mires hay algo original, que llama la atención.  Llegamos pronto para poder hacer algunas fotos.  Al poco rato ya estaba muy animado.  Hay una variedad muy interesante también de vinos, de la Tierra de Cádiz como los de Forlong o de Luis Pérez, (¡todos Sherry Explorers!) de El Bierzo, Rioja, Ribera, … bueno, hay que ir y verlos.  Hay también un pequeño espacio dedicado a loa venta tanto de vinos como de productos gourmet sobre todo de la zona.

Wherever you look there is something unique, something that calls your attention to it.  We arrived early in order to take some photos.  After a while, it filled up with customers and became quite lively.   There is a very interesting variety of wines that are produced in the province of Cádiz such as wines from the Forlong and  the Luis Pérez wineries (all Sherry Explorers!), wines from El Bierzo, Rioja, Ribera, …really, the best thing is to go see and check them out yourself.  There is also a small space where you can purchase these wines, as well as gourmet products that are made in our area.

No hace falta decir que que los vinos de jerez de la Bodega Gutiérrez Colosía son espectaculares.  Yo pedí un amontillado, mmmmmmm!!  Antonio un fino y repitió.  Joe es más de cerveza así es que le animamos a probar la Volaera y acertamos.  Las tapas estaban todas muy buenas.  El atún, exquisito, fresco de almadraba  y en su punto.  La ensalada México LIA, muy sabrosa, el carbón de Bilbao (bacalao) nos encantó.  A mí lo que más me llamó la atención de lo que probé fue la mini-hamburguesa Bespoke de Retinto, estaba deliciosa.   La materia prima es excelente y la elaboración original y acertada por lo que el resultado es estupendo.

It goes without saying that the Gutiérrez Colosía winery´s sherry wines are spectacular.  I asked for an amontillado, mmmmmmm!!  Antonio asked for a fino and had to have another.  Joe is more of a beer drinker so we encouraged him to try a local beer called Volaera and he loved it.    The tapas were all delicious.  The tuna was exquiste, fresh from the  almadraba of the coast nearby, and perfectly prepared.  The México LIA salad was very tasty and we all loved  the  carbón de Bilbao (grilled cod).  What most caught my attention, of all that I tasted, was the Bespoke mini-hamburger made of Retinto beef – it was delicious.   The use of excellent raw material along with a preparation that is very original and perfect, produces an amazing result.

Lo pasamos muy bien, disfrutamos de todo y además me encontré con amigas de hace muuuuuchos años que no veía.  El servicio, excelente.   Discover Sherry os recomendamos Bespoke.  Nosotros volveremos.

We had a great time and enjoyed everything.  I also ran into some friends that I had not seen in a looooong time.   The service is excellent.  Discover Sherry highly recommends Bespoke.  We are definitely going back!
