‘El Legado del Mar. Cádiz y el comercio marítimo‘ es una exposición en el Museo de Cádiz con motivo de la conmemoración del Tricentenario del traslado de la Casa de Contratación desde Sevilla en 1717.

“The Legacy of the Sea. Cádiz and its maritime commerce” is an exhibition at the Cadiz Museum which was prepared as part of the 300th anniversary celebration of the transfer of the “Casa de Contratación”, from Seville to Cadiz, in 1717.

La exposición muestra cómo era la actividad comercial marítima tanto en la Antigüedad, como en la Edad Moderna.

The exhibition portrays the history of local maritime commercial activity, not only in ancient times but also in the Modern era.

La exposición reúne testimonios de la actividad comercial marítima en el entorno gaditano con piezas que hablan sobre la navegación, la vida cotidiana en las embarcaciones durante las largas travesías, los periodos de ocio, la enfermedad, el ajuar de mesa o cocina, los productos de comercio y la defensa.

The exposition brings forth the silent testimony of maritime commercial activity in the Cadiz region via maritime artifacts which  speak about navigation, daily life onboard ships during long voyages, the periods of rest,  illnesses, eating and cooking implements, commercial products, and implements of defense.
