Todo empezó cuando Discover Sherry fue a hacer su primera cata en EE.UU., concretamente en Nueva York hace tres años invitadas por Petra Rodríguez-Conde, Presidenta de FAEUSA.   Allí conocimos a Susy Matheu, bilbaina que vive en San Antonio, Texas.  Ella hizo su juramento de Sherry Explorer en la cata que hicimos en Nueva York y seguimos en contacto.  Cuando le comenté que iba a San Antonio y que podríamos hacer una cata, le pareció genial y como se suele decir, el resto es historia.

It all began when Discover Sherry went to  conduct its first Sherry-tasting in the U.S.; specifically,  it was in New York, three years ago, where we were invited by Petra Rodríguez-Conde, President of  FAEUSA.     There, we met  Susy Matheu, a native of Bilbao who lives in San Antonio, Texas.  She was sworn-in as a Sherry Explorer at the tasting in New York and we have kept in contact ever since.  When I told her that we would be traveling to San Antonio, and suggested that we could conduct a Sherry-tasting, she thought that it was a great idea.  And, as they say, the rest is history.

Como ya os contamos en un post anterior, la exposición fotográfica de María Higuero, Vida Visible e Invisible, nos acompañó a San Antonio y estuvo expuesta en Tribeca 212 durante una semana, fue un exitazo. As we mentioned in a previous post, the photography exhibit by María Higuero (Vida Visible e Invisible) accompanied us to San Antonio and was on display at the Tribeca 212 Restaurant for the entire week.  It enjoyed great success. Hubo lleno total en el Restaurante Tribeca 212 donde hicimos una presentación con power point de los vinos de jerez y degustamos un menú especialmente diseñado para esta ocasión y armonizado con cinco jereces de González Byass.  Me llamó la atención el interés de los asistentes por los vinos de jerez.  Muchas preguntas y muchas ganas de volver a repetir.  Les invité a que nos visiten y esperamos que así lo hagan.

It was a full house at the Tribeca 212 Restaurant where we made a PowerPoint presentation regarding Sherry wines and where we enjoyed a menu that was specially-created for the occasion.  It perfectly harmonized with the five Sherry wines that were provided by the González Byass winery.  I was very impressed by the interest that was demonstrated by the attendees regarding our Sherry wines.  There were many questions and many requests for additional servings.  I cordially invited everyone to visit us in Spain and I hope to seem them when they do so.

27 new Sherry Explorers commited themselves to continue learning about Sherry wine, to promoting them, and to continue to celebrate with them.  It was a lot of fun and very exciting.  We are now 624 Sherry Explorers strong!
