We attended the official ceremony known as the “Pressing of the Grapes” which was held in front of the Cathedral steps in Jerez. We enjoyed the music provided by the Municipal Band, as well a by a flamenco musical group. Grape harvesters brought their baskets of grapes to the wine press where a four- man team pressed the grapes with their traditional footwear. The resulting wine-must (grape juice) was blessed, the bells of the Cathedral rang out, and the municipal band concluded the program by playing a traditional harvest hymn, as well as the Spanish National Anthem.
