What a better way to celebrate Saint Valentine´s Day that enjoying a dinner created by two chefs at the Hotel Posada de Palacio en Sanlúcar de Barrameda.  The two chefs were José Manuel Ávila of the Taberna Argüeso, and José Luis Tallafigo of the El Espejo Restaurant.  This incredible experience was part of the second season of the Catas de Invierno (Winter wine-tastings) which are organized by somellier Rafa Rodríguez.

We were greeted with a glass of Solear Manzanilla wine or a glass of Beta sparkling wine.   We were also offered some very good appetizers which we enjoyed along with a live music performance.

We ran into many Sherry Explorers and an Honorary Sherry Explorer, Mr. Antonio Barbadillo!! We also made some new friends, who we are sure will be future tireless explorers  of Sherry wines and brandy, and Sanlúcar Manzanilla wine.

Each course was perfectly harmonized with a wine from Sanlúcar.  Everything was delicious.  In addition, we followed Pepe Ferrer´s expert suggestion to pair the La Gitana Manzanilla wine with the wild-game, Payoyo cheese, and mushroom caneloni.  An excellent idea!
