Hoy desde Discover Sherry os recomendamos “La Mascaipacha” en Puerto Sherry. Está en un sitio precioso desde donde se puede disfrutar de los barcos que entran y salen del puerto deportivo y de su faro. Es un restaurante familiar. Juan Carlos el propietario es licenciado en Ciencias Naúticas, Marino Mercante y empresario además de encantador y simpático. En el restaurante trabajan su hija Paloma, la chef; su hijo Juan Pablo, encargado de la parrilla, y Susana e Ismael a los que Juan Carlos llama sus hijos adoptivos.
Today, Discover Sherry recommends “La Mascaipacha” grill in Puerto Sherry. It is a beautiful place from which you can enjoy excellent views of boats entering and leaving the marina, as well as the nearby lighthouse. It is a family-owned restaurant and its owner, Juan Carlos, has a degree in Nautical Science, has been a Merchant Marine, and is a businessman. He is both charming and witty. His employees at the restaurant include Chef Paloma, his daughter, Master Griller Juan Pablo, and Susana and Ismael, who Juan Carlos calls his “adopted children.”
Todo lo que probamos era de una calidad excepcional. Apuestan fuerte por los mejores productos que traen de diferentes denominaciones de origen. Degustamos un jamón delicioso, una ensalada Mascaipacha con manzanas, nueces, pasas, tomates cherry y salsa de yogur, también probamos queso frito en salsa de puerros, butifarra catalana y os recomendamos todo.
Everything that we tasted here was of exceptional quality. It is obvious that Juan Carlos obtains the best products from different regions of Spain. We tasted slices of delicious Spanish ham, and a Mazcaipacha salad that contained apple, walnuts, raisins, and cherry tomatoes, in a yogurt sauce. We also tried fried cheese with a leek sauce, and Catalan “butifarra” sausages. We recommend them all.
La carta de vinos nos pareció original, además de una buena representación de los vinos de Jerez tienen una interesante variedad de otras D.O. Primero tomamos un Tío Pepe y luego probamos el Hito 2013 de las Bodegas Cepa 21 de Emilio Moro, de la D.O. Ribera del Duero. Un vino joven, equilibrado, fácil de tomar y que a todos nos gustó mucho.
The wine list is diverse and extensive. In addition to having a good variety of Sherry wines, it also has an interesting variety of wines from other wine-producing regions in Spain. We first had some Tio Pepe Fino Sherry and then we tried the 2013 Hito from Emilio Moro´s Cepa 21 winery in the Ribera del Duero region. It is a young wine that is well-balanced and easy on the palate, and a wine which we all enjoyed.
La especialidad es la carne que se hace en la parrilla a la leña de sarmiento. Del lechazo de la D.O. Castilla-León probamos las chuletillas de cordero hechas a la perfección y la espada de lechazo que si hubiera que dar un primer premio se la llevaría seguro.
The house specialties include a variety of meats that are grilled above a fire built with wood originating from old grape vines. In addition to the veal, from the Castilla-León region in Spain, we also had lamb chops that were grilled to perfection. But, if there was a first prize to be awarded, we would surely give it to the lamb kebab which was incredible.
De postre compartimos unos canutillos fritos rellenos de crema, una tarta de queso estilo Nueva York con confitura de moras y no podía faltar un buen brandy de Jerez para acabar una comida increíble, ¿qué mejor que una copa de Lepanto?
For dessert, we shared some cannoli-type pastry filled with cream, a New York style cheesecake with a blackberry sauce, and, of course, a nice glass of Jerez brandy to top off our amazing meal. What could be better than a glass of Lepanto Brandy?
