Hacía tiempo que no iba a la Feria de Jerez pero este año si que fuimos y lo pasamos estupendo.  La Feria es una cosa singular y para vivirla hay que estar con buenos amigos y meterte en el ambiente hasta formar parte de él.  No sé si esto lo explica.  Cuando intento explicarle a  amigos americanos qué es la feria, acabo dándome por vencida y diciéndoles que vengan y la vivan, es la única manera de entender esta fiesta tan especial.

It had been a while since I had been to the Jerez Spring Fair but this year I went and I had a great time.  The Spring Fair is a unique event and in order to fully enjoy it you need to be joined by good friends and participate until you actually become part of the celebration.  I´m not sure if that makes sense to some.  When I tried to explain what the Feria was, to some American friends, I gave up and told them instead to join us and experience it.  That is the only way to understand what this special celebration is all about.

Quedamos con amigos, como hace mucha gente, en el templete de González Byass donde tomamos, como es normal, la primera copita de Tío Pepe.

We met with a group of friends, as many others do, at the González Byass gazebo where we had, as would be expected our first glass of Tío Pepe.

Montamos en coche de caballos, tomamos rebujito y sobre todo, nos abanicamos mucho, mucho. ¡Qué calor!

We rode about on a horse carriage, drinking rebujito (manzanilla or fino sherry wine mixed with lemon soda) but, most of all, we fanned ourselves, over and over. It sure was hot!

Los que nunca habéis estado en la feria, creo que debéis pensar seriamente en venir y experimentarla.  Es algo que debe hacerse aunque sea una vez en la vida y esto va para todos los amigos de los EE.UU. y otros países.

I think that those of you who have never been to the Spring Fair should seriously consider doing so.  Come and experience it.  It is something that you should do even if it is once in a lifetime.  This includes all of our friends from the U.S. and from other countries.

Definición de Feria: amigos, fino, manzanilla o rebujito, baile, palmas, cante, tapitas, caballos, color, calor, abanico, buen ambiente, flores, risas, ………..otro mundo.

Definition of Feria: friends, fino sherry, manzanilla wine or rebujito, dancing, clapping, singing, tapas, horses, color, heat, fans, good ambiance, flowers, smiles,……a completely different world.
