Aromas Chinos y Vinos de Jerez con Mónica Zhou Y Paco Zhu Guadalquivir/ “Chinese Aromas and Sherry Wines” presented by Mónica Zhou and Paco Zhu Guadalquivir

Our Shanghai Sherry Sherry Explorer, Mónica Zhou, and her husband, Paco Zhu Guadalquivir, were our guest speakers and they gave us a fascinating class relating to the a variety of Chinese plants and the similarity that they have with the different types of Sherry wines.

First, of course, we had to swear-in the new Sherry Explorers.  That evening, Sherry Explorer Antonia Lucena, was in charge of making the presentation and she did an excellent job.  Welcome to the new and tireless explorers of Sherry wine!

Immediately afterwards, Mónica carefully explained the characteristics of each of the Chinese plants, including those that were used for medicinal purposes and those that were prepared and served as teas. Some of them we tasted by simply chewing them, and others we tasted as a tea.  The Chenpi, however, was utilized by  Chef Paco Zhu (Guadalquivir) In preparing a beef stew that was spectacular.  Soon, we will be posting his recipe.
